Very Rev. Carl A. Last

Fr. Last was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in May, 1969 and served as associate pastor at St. Gregory the Great for 2 years. He was sent to the University of Notre Dame for his post-graduate degree in theology with emphasis on liturgical studies. He returned to the Archdiocese to establish and staff the Archdiocesan Liturgy Office. He also taught liturgical studies at St. Francis Seminary. In 1976 he was appointed Executive Director of the National Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions and Consultant to the National Bishops' Committee on the Liturgy in Washington, DC. In 1981 he returned to the seminary and served as Director of Continuing Formation for Clergy. After a study sabbatical in Rome, Fr. Carl was appointed pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in 1986. In 1992 he was appointed pastor of St. Matthias Parish until he was named Director of the Cathedral Project. In addition to serving as the Director of the Cathedral Project, Fr. Carl was appointed Rector and Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in July of 2001.
